Ballymun is a
community of 16,566.
Thirty-three percent of the population is under
14 years of age, and 21% of the population is between
the ages of 15 and 24.
Ballymun has been
plagued with significant socio-economic problems.
It has extraordinarily high rates of
unemployment, welfare dependency, drug abuse, single
parent households, and school dropouts as well as
limited access to adequate childcare.

25 and 44 are unemployed.

71% of Dublin Corporation tenants
(government subsidized housing) are dependent on social
welfare as their only source of income.

57% of children leave school before age 15

there is a tremendous need in Ballymun for services that
would provide the community positive activities and
educational support.
